Responsibilities

  • The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, conducive and patient centred care environment for residents.
  • Maintaining high standards in the delivery of dementia and nursing care in accordance with MOH standards and guidelines.
  • Assessing and reviewing care standards periodically and consistently for audit purposes.
  • Submitting up to date nursing related reports.
  • Managing ward staffing needs, including coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Work under Supervisor to analyse, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for residents.
  • Co-ordinate and implement care plan for the residents.
  • Conduct rounds to ensure residents are well and safe and report any abnormality for immediate/timely treatment and follow-up with Supervisor.
  • Assist in Doctor’s rounds and in treatments and examinations of residents.
  • Identify problems related to illness and decline in functional, cognitive abilities and advocate early medical attention.
  • Be familiar with all aspects of nursing care and emergency evacuation procedures so as to be able to attend to emergencies that may arise.
  • Assist and supervise activities and rehabilitation programmes to enhance the quality of life for residents.
  • Maintain systematic inventory control of drugs in wards/out-patient stocks and all assets acquired in order to achieve optimal utilization and safe storage.
  • Practise proper decontamination procedure and infection control, and ensure safe custody of residents.
  • Participate in MDR rounds, QA programmes, organisational committees, workgroups activities.
  • Supervise and guide subordinates in their duties.
  • Orientate, educate, train and supervise patients, families and caregivers.
  • Ensure safe storage of all confidential records and documents and that residents’ confidentiality is maintained at all times.

The Candidate:

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution
  • Registered with Singapore Nursing Board
  • Deep interest to specialize and to lead dementia care
  • Fresh graduates with deep interest to specialize in dementia care are also welcome.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
