Introduction
ETH Zurich is one of the leading universities of the world with a strong focus on science and engineering. In 2010 it established the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) in collaboration with the National Research Foundation (NRF) to do interdisciplinary research on pressing problems.
In collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS) , the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) , Duke - NUS , the National Health Group (NHG), National University Health System (NUHS), and SingHealth, SEC is undertaking a research programme on ’ Future Health Technologies (FHT) ’. It addresses some immanent health challenges by developing a future-oriented Mobile Digital Health Concept that tackles the increase in patients suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity and stroke, as a consequence of a rapidly ageing population with mobile digital technologies, covering the value chain from acute care to patient’s private homes. Project Background
The server and network of FHT must be safe to process medical research data, including identified data. To build up and maintain the secured infrastructure of Future Health Technology, FHT is looking for an experienced Senior System Engineer. Job Description
Security protocols and access controls where you architect, design and implement these in a secure and regulated Environment
Infrastructure that is on premise and across various locations where you design the layout, test and implement various hardware and network equipment. This includes mounting, cabling of hardware (firewall/switches/servers/storages)
Design new ways to efficiently set up of computing environments based on the needs of various developers
Vulnerability assessment and reviews conducted in house where your review consider architectures such as zero trust and security design principles
Architect, design and configure the Network monitoring and logging tools to optimise network traffic, design fault tolerance and resiliency
Assessing, Sourcing, Procuring and asset management of hardware and software assets
Collaborate on a Strategic and operational level with various parties from the National Research Foundation
Develop effective reports Management and performance metrics for activities such as driving Weekly Status updates Requirements
This position requires:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Science (or a related field)
3 to 5 years’ of work experience
A solid knowledge of Linux as a Senior system engineer and developer.
Familiar with Linux Debian/Ubuntu, networking, open-source code development,
Experience automating repetitive tasks using Bash or Python scripts.
Good logical thinking and troubleshooting skills to analyze and quickly solve unforeseen incidents affecting the operation of our clusters.
Experience with firewall/switch/storage, security/logging and machine learning is required.
Experience with containers (Docker and Kubernetes) and public clouds (AWS) is highly desirable.
Experience with NAS systems and backup concepts is a plus.
Proper documentation of the infrastructure should not be alien for you.
Previous work in Scientific Computing is desirable but not mandatory, provided that you are open to new technologies and able to acquire the necessary skills on the job.
Good communication skills orally and in writing are a plus for working in a multicultural environment.
