Research Engineer - Advanced Materials Technology Centre

The Advanced Materials Technology Centre (AMTC) is one of the Research & Development (R&D) centres under the Department of Technology, Innovation and Enterprise (TIE). Integrating advanced materials, industrial chemistry and nanotechnology R&D activities, AMTC plays an integral role in promoting multi-disciplinary & cross-functional projects between Singapore Polytechnic and its business and industry partners.

The appointee will be part of the research team to deliver external funded projects, industry consultancy projects, create intellectual property (IP) and support schools to build up their capabilities to meet the needs of active ingredient materials, speciality chemicals and cosmetic industries.

Responsibilities:-

• Design and formulate cosmetic products and nutritional products
• Support experiments in affinity studies of capsules on different substrates in formulation, extraction and encapsulation of active ingredients
• Communicate with industries, attract industry projects, provide consultancy services to clients and assist in product commercialisation
• Provide operational/administrative support to school activities and supervision of students
• Ensure the smooth daily operation of laboratories which include procurement and maintenance of equipment, upkeep facility and ensure safe practices are complied

Requirements:-

• Good knowledge in cosmetic product formulation, cosmetic product testing, sensory testing and operating testing equipment
• Positive, dynamic and result-oriented individual with a passion to support business development
• Self-drive, independent, and possess readiness to work as a team
• Passionate about education and possess strong interest in mentoring students
• Demonstrates supervisory skills
• People-oriented individual with good interpersonal, written and communication skills
• Relevant qualifications in Cosmetic Science, Material Science and Engineering, or related fields with focus on fine chemistry/specialty chemicals
