Main duties and responsibilities

The part time Research Assistant functions as part of the research team involved in various clinical research projects. The RA will act as liaison between research participants and the research team, obtaining relevant information by interviewing participants and explaining aims and plan of the project in layman terms, address their concerns and questions and arranging for their informed consent.

The RA will be responsible to work closely with the Principal Investigator and study team members to ensure the successful completion of the various research projects on time. The team’s currently active projects include - but are not limited to - understanding patients’ and spouses’ quality-of-life during cancer treatment, barriers and facilitators to cancer screening, advance care planning uptake among chronic and cancer patients, and acceptance of telemedicine initiatives in primary and tertiary healthcare settings.

The RA will be required to:
  • Recruit and coordinate visits for research participants
  • Administer study procedures such as questionnaires, interviews
  • Collect and enter data into database
  • Assist in biological specimen collection
  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the project(s), such as organizing meetings to maintain regular communication with other members of the research team, maintaining study site files and documents;
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth running of the project(s)
  • Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record keeping in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Life Science, Social Sciences, Public Health or equivalent
  • Able to commit at least 3 working days per week
  • Demonstrate tact and discretion when dealing with confidential data.
  • Able to travel between clinic locations for study-related activities when needed
  • Able to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in research study coordination will be an advantage
  • Bilingual and/or knowledge of local dialects desired (in order to handle concerns and questions from local dialects speaking research subject
The position is a 6-month contract in the first instance and could be extended with good performance.
