General Summary :

Lead and manage all aspects of the store operation efficiently to ensure activities are aligned to corporate strategies in advancing the goals of the organization. Maintain and adjust operations to stay within corporate budget and implement strategies to maximise, improve or sustain the weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual and projected sales and profit margins, customer service goals. Successful projection of the store image.

Manage store operational efficiency and productivity in merchandise management, staff management and development, assets management, maximize sales revenue, inventory control, expense control, loss control to minimize shrinkage, maintain high standard of visual merchandising and housekeeping programs, lead and develop a team of highly motivated and competent sales and customer-driven staff.

Essential Functions:

1.0 Effective Daily Operation of the Store:

1.1 Monitor to ensure -

a. that store opening and closing procedures (security, trading hours, etc.) are strictly adhered to;

b. adequate staffing for the efficient operation of all selling and support functions; and

c. compliance to customer service standards and standard operating procedures.

1.2 Tour store and discuss departments’ strengths and weaknesses with managers, executives and supervisors to achieve operational readiness, effectiveness and efficiency.

1.3 Review on accuracy of daily cash balancing summary of cash office and take rectification action as necessary.

2.0 Store Sales, Service & Operational Goals & Performance

  • Communicate achievements and goals to drive performance.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly performance reviews with the store management team to improve individuals and teams effectiveness.
  • Identify projects and programs for the week and continually reinforces daily routines.
  • Monitor store goal achievement efforts and take corrective actions where necessary. Optimize retail space, profit dollars and control expenses in order to maximize sales growth and profit.
  • Implement, monitor and comply with corporate competitive programs, ensuring that the store is competitive in the market.
  • Establish and implement customer service programs to optimize customer service level. Greets and assists customers, resolving any problems or complaints in order to provide and promote customer service.
  • Implement and monitor adherence to store operations policies and procedures including merchandising, merchandise replenishment program, inventory control, expense control, store maintenance, loss control, human resources and workplace safety & health policies to ensure the efficient and productive management of the store.
  • Implement corporate merchandising strategies and programs storewide to maximize utilization of floor space to achieve higher sales and productivity.
  • Actively, work with the merchandising, marketing and visual merchandising team to implement programs to increase customer traffic, sales and profitability.

3.0 Vendor/3rd Party/Internal Relationship

  • Liaise with concessionaires and monitor their performance.
  • Buildup good rapport with brands, vendors, mall management teams, internal teams and external customers.

4.0 Staff Management

  • Deploy, lead, motivate and develop a team of highly competent staff. Promote resourcefulness and renovation.
  • Guide and train staff on the customer service standard, standard operating procedures and expectations; and develop staff for greater responsibilities. Integrate such staff with the team in the store.
  • Staff performance management, including grievance handling, counselling and the annual performance review.

5.0 Compliance With Regulations

  • Ensure compliance with local labour laws, statutory requirements, fair employment practices, Personal Data Protection Act, including –
  • foreign workers deployed by vendors/contractors to work in the store holds a valid work pass;
  • reviewing and approving contractor’s Risk Assessment for the job to be carried out before giving the go ahead for the commencement of such work in the store;
  • currency of all licences and contracts to maintain operation readiness;
  • promoting workplace safety and health and safe work practices amongst staff to ensure compliance with the Workplace Safety & Health Act
  • 6.0 Any other duties or projects which may be assigned from time to time in order to maintain staffing flexibility and efficiency.

    Requirements :

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management or related field
    • Solid background in retail and business management with at least 5 years’ experience in managing medium to large retail store
    • Analytical & attention to detail
    • Planning & organization skills, is proactive in-store planning skills
    • Driven, self-motivated leadership
    • Service and sales management skills
    • Able to work a 6-day work week
